New Orleans most creative and groundbreaking news program to celebrate with month-long events coverage
January 27, 2016 – WGNO, Tribune Broadcasting’s ABC Television Network affiliate for the greater New Orleans area, is pleased to announce News With A Twist, New Orleans’ most creative and groundbreaking news program celebrates its 5th birthday at the end of January. In conjunction with that event, it will feature an array of stories and coverage that spotlights the unique and unmatched culture of New Orleans. News with a Twist debuted on January 31, 2011 and since its launch has garnered national recognition with its one of a kind style and delivery.
In the coming weeks, WGNO’s News with a Twist will feature comprehensive local coverage of New Orleans’ most popular events and traditions:
January 29-31
News with a Twist will be the sole TV sponsor of Family Gras 2016, a family friendly Mardi Gras event complete with arts, parades and outdoor concerts. Set in Metairie, Louisiana, Family Gras is ideal to witness the pageantry of Mardi Gras and enjoy music from local and nationally recognized musical acts such as The Band Perry, Andy Grammer, Amanda Shaw, Dr. John, The Monkees and more.
Tuesday, February 2
WGNO will have a live broadcast (hosted by Susy Roesgen and Lebron “LBJ” Joseph) from the gigantic Krewe Of Tucks den as they prepare for their Saturday February 6th parade on the historic Uptown route in New Orleans.
Friday, February 5
Jerry Springer joins News With A Twist at 5p. Jerry, who will be in New Orleans for the Krewe of Endymion parade, will join Susy Roesgen and Lebron “LBJ” Joseph for the entire show. Endymion is one of only three “super-krewes,” world famous for not only its immense size but for the celebrities that ride with it.
Saturday, February 6
Susy, LBJ, Curt, Kenny Lopez, Martha Spencer and Wild Bill ride in the Krewe of Tucks parade, serving as Grand Marshalls for the historic ride. Tucks is best known for its irreverence and wacky sense of humor including the King’s Throne which happens to be a giant toilet.
February 5-9
5-days of comprehensive Mardi Gras coverage from the many locations that make Mardi Gras one of the most visited and attended Louisiana events on a yearly basis.
