FOX31 Denver Awarded Overall Excellence by Heartland Regional Emmys

KDVR and KWGN Received 21 Emmy Awards

JULY 18, 2016 – FOX31 Denver, KDVR-TV, and Colorado’s Own Channel 2, KWGN-TV won the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ prestigious Station Excellence Award, among several top honors, at the Heartland Regional Emmy Awards Saturday night. Together the stations won 21 Emmy Awards.

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) and the Emmy Award honor outstanding achievement in the television industry. The NATAS Heartland Chapter includes television markets in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma.

With 19 chapters across the country, NATAS is the only non-profit organization dedicated to recognizing outstanding achievement, raising industry standards, and improving the quality of television.

“There are some great things happening here at FOX31 and Colorado’s Own Channel 2,” said Joan Barrett, Vice President and General Manager of KDVR and KWGN.  “While it is extremely gratifying that our peers recognize the quality of work that our team is producing, I also hope that Coloradans take a moment to turn the channel and watch our news.  We believe we are serving our community and covering Colorado better than anyone in this market and we want our viewers to see the difference. “
In addition to Station Excellence, FOX31 Denver also received the Community Service Emmy Award for Problem Solvers, a station initiative that tells stories that hold the powerful accountable, help right wrongs and impact the lives of community members in need.
“We are so happy that we won this award because we really do believe we have a responsibility to our community and to making a difference,” said Holly Gauntt, Vice President of News and Digital Content for KDVR and KWGN. “The Problem Solvers stories have really touched the lives of many people in need. We’ve helped dozens of people who’ve been ripped off, cheated or just plain victimized. Our reward, day in and day out, is seeing the difference we make in the lives of our viewers. It’s a bonus to be recognized by our industry with such a prestigious award!”
