10 Jun FOX31 Denver and Colorado’s Own Channel 2 Nominated for 61 Heartland Regional Emmy Awards
JUNE 10, 2016 – FOX31 Denver, KDVR-TV, and Colorado’s Own Channel 2, KWGN-TV, received 61 nominations in the 2016 Heartland Regional Emmy competition. The stations were nominated in 51 categories, including Overall Station Excellence, News Excellence, Best Evening Newscast, Best Team Coverage and Best Breaking News Coverage.
“We are very appreciative of this prestigious recognition by our peers in television news and journalism,” said Holly Gauntt, Vice President of News and Digital Content for KDVR and KWGN. “We are especially proud that many of the nominations are for team awards.”
In addition to team recognition, several individuals were also nominated, including Anchor Jeremy Hubbard for Best News Anchor, Chief Meteorologist Dave Fraser for Best Weather Anchor and Sports Director Nick Griffith for Best Sports Anchor.

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) and the Emmy Award stand for the best in the television industry. With 19 chapters across the country, NATAS is the only non-profit organization dedicated to recognizing outstanding achievement, raising industry standards, and improving the quality of television. The NATAS Heartland Chapter includes television markets in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma.
Judging for nominations in 6 categories is not yet complete. The Heartland Regional Emmy Award winners will be announced on July 16.
