Network Begins the Process of Converting to a Cable Network;
WGN America Now Available on Cable in Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Seattle and Washington, DC
WGN America is debuting on cable television systems in Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Seattle and Washington, D.C. starting today, as it begins the process of converting from a superstation to a cable network. The conversion will further the network’s strategy of delivering compelling original programming to viewers across the country.
Over the past several months, WGN America has been expanding its programming lineup to best serve the interests of its national audience. This year, WGN America launched its first two high-quality original series, the hit supernatural drama “Salem” and the critically acclaimed “Manhattan.” Both will return for a second season in 2015. Additionally, WGN America’s first two unscripted series, “Wrestling with Death” and “Outlaw Country” will premiere early next year on Tuesday, January 13 (10:00 p.m. ET/ 9:00 p.m. CT) and Tuesday, February 24 (10:00 p.m. ET / 9:00 p.m. CT), respectively. Joining these original series in September 2015 will be popular syndicated fare including, “Person of Interest,” “Elementary” and “Blue Bloods.”
WGN America announced plans in 2013 to transition from a superstation to a cable network as it evolves to become a home for original programming. For questions about where to see WGN America, visit the network’s Channel Finder at WGNAmerica.com.
